Every culture has a story…

In May of 2025, Turn the Page Uganda gathered in Elings Park to share Ugandan food and read traditional stories from the villages of Northern Uganda. Many stories taught lessons so that children listening to these stories would remember to be careful when dealing with nature and consequences for not protecting the world around them. Other stories tried to explain why the natural world is the way it is…and how to deal with drought or famine. Popular characters included the Hare, Leopard, and Crocodile. As the stars came out we enjoyed sharing s’mores cooked over the BBQ and sharing the impact Turn the Page Uganda has had over the years for so many students and teachers across Uganda.
