  • Unite to Light

Unite to Light is a Santa Barbara-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to “manufacture and distribute efficient, durable, low cost solar lamps and solar chargers to people without access to electricity." Our products are the lights people need to live and thrive. We focus on projects that help students study at night, equip midwives with the tools they need to save lives, offer help and hope to those suffering from natural disasters, and provide light and power to our neighbors experiencing homelessness so they are able to connect to vital services and information. Light by light we are changing the world.

  • African Women Rising

We are a movement of empowered, resilient women building a vibrant and hopeful future in Northern Uganda. The region bears the brunt of Uganda’s refugee crisis, which UNICEF ranks among the fastest growing in the world. Uganda is host to the most refugees of any African nation,; most of Uganda’s 1.6 million refugees have settled in the rural north, many in the communities where AWR is based. The vast majority are women and children under the age of 18. Women play a critical role, spearheading efforts to uplift their families and communities through their engagement in agriculture, education, healthcare and community development projects.
Our programs are designed to nurture their aspirations and amplify their impact.

  • Artiste Winery

Bion Rice has donated his very special wines to support our fundraising ventures each year. We are so thankful for his generosity! Having studied art and filmmaking in college, Bion wanted to fuse his passion for art and wine in an innovative way. In 1999, he produced the first vintage of Artiste featuring the art of James-Paul Brown on the front label, inspiring Bion to start his own winery.. Artiste’s “Tasting Gallery” was opened in 2003, and it quickly became a must-experience destination for wine enthusiasts who also appreciated art. The tasting experience included painting on large easels with canvases, sketching in art journals and wine blending classes.. Artiste became the home of Art Inspired Wines, an approach to blending wine that Bion invented, developed, and perfected. He artfully blends wines in response to the emotional, instinctual, thought-provoking, and sometimes synesthetic experiences derived from artworks, translating a visual medium into the senses: aromas, flavors, and mouth-feel. Every wine is a limited-edition work of art itself and is never replicated.
